I am really bad at picking out wall art. I always chicken out and end up buying a mirror or over sized clock instead of a painting. Maybe it will come with age? Or maybe I just never will have the knack for buying art. I definitely don't have the the knack for making it!
After searching for a while for some wall art for our dining room, I gave up on finding a painting. Instead, I headed to Home Goods on a mission. I was originally thinking hanging shelves like the example below....
Absolutely love this idea from Shanty to Chic. The authors of this blog are the DIY queens!
This was the look I was going for but did not find anything similar at Home Goods. Love the thick beems and the neutral colors. It would be fun to switch it up during different holidays and seasons.

I would have loved to find a way to make a bar out of this small space behind the dining room table, but I did not find these Rustic Wood Entertaining Shelves from Pottery Barn til after my project! They are perfect for a smaller apartment. We don't have a lot of storage space, so this would have been perfect to store the wine glasses that are spilling out of the cabinets. I will definitely be registering for these! I am sure I can find another spot for them!
Aaaaaand after much anticipation, this is what I came up with! I found this rustic box shelf at Home Goods, along with all the candles, frames, flowers and containers in it. The only items did that did not come from Home Goods were the H mugs. They were an engagement gift from Anthropologie. I thought they are too cute to drink out of! Plus they fit perfectly into my new wall art!
